DEVLOG #3: The Great Rebranding

Hello, Industrialists!

Today marks a significant milestone in our game's journey. We're excited to announce that Industry '95 is getting a complete rebrand, and we want to share the story behind this decision.

Why the Change?

When we first launched Industry '95, the name reflected our initial vision - a pure Windows 95 nostalgia trip. The game was designed entirely around that retro aesthetic, and the name made perfect sense.

However, as development progressed and we listened to your feedback, something became clear: players wanted choice. Not everyone grew up with Windows 95. Some of you prefer modern interfaces, others love the XP era, and many wanted something completely different.

The name "Industry '95" felt limiting. It suggested the game was locked into one specific aesthetic, when in reality, we were building something much more flexible and universal.

Introducing: INDUSTRIAL SIMULATOR

Our new name better represents what the game truly is - a comprehensive industrial empire building experience that adapts to your preferences. Whether you want to run your factories with a retro terminal vibe, a sleek modern interface, or yes, that classic Windows 95 look, the choice is yours.

The new name is:

  • Clear - You immediately know what the game is about
  • Timeless - Not tied to any specific era or aesthetic
  • Professional - Reflects the scale and depth of the simulation
  • Flexible - Leaves room for all the themes and features we're adding

The New Logo

Along with the name change, we've completely redesigned the logo. The old logo was very Windows 95-specific with its retro computer monitor and teal colors. While we loved it, it didn't represent the full scope of the game anymore.

The new logo features:

  • A bold, industrial gear and factory silhouette design
  • Clean, readable typography that works at any size
  • A color scheme that adapts to different UI themes
  • Professional polish while maintaining personality

We wanted something that would look equally at home on a retro-themed desktop or a modern gaming library. Something that screams "industry" and "building" without being tied to any particular era.

What This Means for the Game

Don't worry - nothing you love is going away! The Windows 95 theme is still there, and it's better than ever. We're just adding more options alongside it.

The rebranding reflects our expanded vision:

  • Multiple UI themes (Windows 95, Modern Dark/Light, XP, Terminal, and more coming)
  • Customizable sound packs to match each theme
  • More flexibility in how you experience the game
  • A foundation for future updates and expansions

Community Feedback

This decision didn't come lightly. We've been reading your comments, reviews, and suggestions. Many of you mentioned that while you loved the gameplay, the strict retro aesthetic wasn't for everyone. Some felt the Windows 95 theme was nostalgic, others found it limiting.

We realized we were potentially alienating players who would love the core gameplay but weren't interested in the specific aesthetic. That's not what we want - we want everyone to enjoy building their industrial empire their way.

Moving Forward

This rebrand is just the beginning. We're committed to making INDUSTRIAL SIMULATOR the most feature-rich and customizable idle game out there. Expect more themes, more content, and more ways to play in the coming months.

The Deluxe Edition will launch with even more theme options, and we're exploring community-created themes through our upcoming modding support.

Thank You

To everyone who's played Industry '95 and shared their thoughts - thank you. Your feedback shaped this decision and continues to guide our development. We're building this game for you, and we want it to be something you're excited to play for years to come.

The industrial revolution continues - now with more options than ever.

Keep building,
The Hollow Software Team
